Summer Soothe – Anti-Inflammatory drink

By Sugandha

2 minute read

The Summer Soothe is my go-to herbal infusion for cooling, calming, and restoring balance on even the hottest days.

Each batch starts with fresh or dried lemongrass, an Ayurvedic powerhouse known for its naturally cooling properties. Lemongrass gently brings down internal heat, eases inflammation, and lends a bright, citrusy aroma that makes every sip feel like a mini-vacation for your senses.

Paired with fennel seeds, this blend becomes a digestive ally. Fennel not only adds a hint of sweetness but also soothes bloating, calms the gut, and supports your body’s natural detox pathways—perfect after a heavy meal or when you simply need a gentle reset.

Here’s why I can’t live without my midday cup of Summer Soothe:

  • Hydration with a Purpose: Unlike caffeinated teas or sugary sodas, this blend hydrates you deeply while delivering anti-inflammatory benefits.

  • Digestion Made Easy: Fennel’s carminative qualities help food move smoothly through your system, so you feel lighter and more comfortable.

  • Inflammation Fighter: Both lemongrass and fennel contain compounds that soothe internal heat – ideal for calming a flared-up digestive tract or tired muscles.

  • Caffeine-Free & Mildly Sweet: No jitters, just a soft, natural sweetness. Add a touch of honey or maple syrup if you like, or enjoy it pure.

  • Detox Support: This aromatic duo encourages gentle cleansing, helping your liver and kidneys process toxins more efficiently.

You’ll Need:

  • Fresh chopped lemongrass – 2 tablespoons
(Tip: It grows easily in pots and gardens, so consider planting some! If not, try to buy it fresh. If that’s unavailable, dried lemongrass will work too.)
Lemongrass is extremely cooling and is considered a natural summer herb.

  • Fennel seeds – 1 tablespoon
Fennel also has cooling properties and a natural sweetness that blends beautifully into the drink.

  • Maple syrup (optional) – to sweeten, if desired

  • Fresh lemon juice (optional) – for a zesty touch

  • Water – enough for 1 jar (you can scale up if needed)

 How to Make It:

  1. In a kettle or saucepan, bring one jar of water to a boil.

  2. Add 2 tbsp lemongrass and 1 tbsp fennel seeds.

  3. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the herbs to infuse fully.

  4. Turn off the heat and let it steep for 15–20 minutes.

  5. Strain the liquid into a glass jar and let it cool completely.

  6. Once cooled, store it in the refrigerator for a few hours (or overnight).

 How to Enjoy:

When you’re ready for a refreshing drink:

  • Pour some of this herbal infusion into a glass.

  • Add a splash of lemon juice or a bit of maple syrup, if you like.

  • Stir gently, sit somewhere peaceful, and sip slowly.

This drink will cool your body, refresh your mind, and re-energize you naturally.

Give your body what it truly needs this summer – cooling comfort from nature. Try this easy Ayurvedic recipe and experience the difference for yourself. Sip mindfully, share with your loved ones, and let every glass bring balance and refreshment.
